Landscape Architecture is a postgraduate programme within the Department of Landscape Architecture and offers training at Master's and Doctoral level.
History
The Department of Landscape Architecture at Istanbul Technical University was established in 2001. Since 2002-2003 academic year, Landscape Architecture Master's and Doctorate Programmes have been providing graduate education with 24 credits for master's degree and 21 credits for doctorate degree with thesis. Before 2002, the education given under the Landscape Planning Programme in the Department of Urban Regional Planning has been reconstructed under a different department with a change in content.
Mission
It promotes a dynamic substructure that follows current initiatives to evaluate the philosophy and practice of landscape architecture within a scholarly framework. In this context, it aims to educate innovative, contemporary research professionals capable of producing, developing and discussing theoretical ideas for the discipline; landscape planning and design, landscape architecture history and theory, landscape construction and engineering, landscape restoration and management, landscape and urban ecology, interdisciplinary design research and applications, and informatics in landscape architecture.
Vision
To educate competent experts, researchers who can jointly evaluate creative thinking and methodological approaches to analysis, who can contribute to science at national and international level by producing multifaceted approaches to complex design problems for the understanding, protection and development of natural and cultural values, who can collaborate in research and production with other design branches and disciplines within the framework of sustainability ethics and ethics.
