In the project, climate solutions addressing the identified problems of Ayvalık Küçükköy, living laboratories, water conservation, ecological connectivity, and the creation of awareness-raising spaces have been adopted as strategies. Programs are proposed to support tourism in spaces integrated with the character of the region, catering to the needs of different users. Additionally, R&D studies and scientific and environmental study centers are suggested. Considering the environmental problems faced by the region, nature-based strategies have been determined to create healthy and safe spaces by managing rainwater at its source without allowing it to surface runoff, creating areas where water can be collected, and improving wetlands. Sustainable drainage systems have been used to increase water quality and to provide aesthetic areas that also provide biodiversity. To minimize the impacts and risks of sea level rise, steps have been taken to provide gradual access to the sea, and flexible coastal usage has been enabled with recycled barriers. Protection zones have been created where endemic and endangered species on the coast can grow. Habitat islands are suggested for endangered bird species.
