“Eco-ternity,” a landscape design project for Kadıkalesi in Aydın, Turkey, aims to merge historical heritage with ecological sustainability. Rooted in the site’s rich past, the project draws inspiration from the symbols of the peacock and lotus flower, representing eternity, healing, and immortality. Eco-ternity integrates the cultural essence of Kadıkalesi with modern ecological values, promoting a cyclical relationship between history and sustainability. The master plan incorporates historical elements with ecological functions, creating a green system that blends the past with the present. The spiral pattern in the design symbolizes infinity and enhances site accessibility. The project is divided into three zones: natural borders for preservation, interactive historical experiences with transparent walkways, and spaces for community workshops focusing on art and archaeology.
Sustainability is central to the project, with eco-friendly materials, water conservation, and renewable energy prioritized. Eco-ternity also involves local communities through educational programs and eco-tourism, fostering economic development. The project connects Kadıkalesi’s historical significance with a sustainable future, creating a cultural and ecological landmark in Aydın.
