“The Absence of Pattern”

Landscape Design IV - PEM 411E (CRN 24543) – “The Absence of Pattern” will be conducted by Assist. Prof. Ikhwan Kim and Res. Assist Nergis Aşar in the 2025-2026 Spring Semester.

This studio aims to deeply understand how people perceive, behave, and interact with one another in the space to build communities. Most of the design in our field focuses on designing physical elements. However, it is critical to understand that physical design is ultimately about designing the human experience. 
With this approach, we will study and design the Göktürk region. The site was originally developed by the local mining industry, but foreigners who value privacy began to build a closed community there. Now those two groups are fabricating a chaotic design pattern throughout the space, and we will investigate this aspect.
