Between fragile ecologies and expanding industry, Bandırma stands as a field of tensions. The 'Dialectics on Panormos: The Port and Beyond' studio aims to explore the coexistence of dualities in Bandırma—threat and potential, nature and infrastructure, heritage and modernity—and seeks to reveal the relationships they generate. Students are invited to investigate the city’s multilayered structure: its sociological diversity, cultural traces shaped by migration, ruptures in coastal continuity, abandoned industrial sites, the untapped potential of local agriculture, and the unique ecological potential in between Manyas-Kapıdağ. Rather than viewing these dynamics in isolation, the project emphasizes their interconnections and contradictions as a source of design inquiry. At its core, the graduation project reimagines Bandırma Port not as a mere “problem,” but as a site of possibility for new public, ecological, and cultural scenarios.
